PLAZAMEDIA will again produce the UEFA Champions League games for ZDF for a further three years. Following successful production of the UEFA Champions League final last Saturday in Berlin, where PLAZAMEDIA was service partner and provided the Worldfeed using more than 40 cameras on behalf of ZDF, the company now has commissioned PLAZAMEDIA to act as host broadcaster for the UEFA Champions League in Germany for another three years, up to and including the 2017/18 season, as well as supplying the production technology for unilateral ZDF productions at home and abroad.
The agreement with ZDF includes technical production services for the play-offs, the group stage and also the knockout rounds and subsequently for the final. For that purpose, PLAZAMEDIA relies in the segment of production technology on TVN and Topvision.
Dieter Gruschwitz, Head of Sports at ZDF says:
“We are pleased that during the forthcoming rights term, ZDF will continue to be home to Europe´s premier football competition for a further three years.”
Joachim Wildt, Chairman of the Board of Directors at PLAZAMEDIA confirms:
“We are delighted by the recommissioning of PLAZAMEDIA to produce the UEFA Champions League for several more years. In this sector, PLAZAMEDIA will once more be optimally positioned to demonstrate its core competence by offering live broadcasts from major international events with emotional pictures of the highest quality.”
The first production will be mid-August for Bayer 04 Leverkusen´s play-off round, first leg.
